Documentary Filmmaker. Buffalo, NY .The Department of Communication at Buffalo State College is seeking an assistant professor (tenure-track) in the area of news/documentary/events producing, beginning August 2006, to teach courses in writing and producing. This person will team with current faculty experts in video/audio producing, directing, and post-production to enhance the department’s media presence. Through coursework and through both student- and faculty-directed projects, the department is developing programming for campus, regional and national media.
      Required qualifications are (1) a master’s degree in communication, media study or relevant field, (2) college-level teaching experience and (3) professional experience producing television. Preferred qualifications are (1) a terminal degree (Ph.D. or M.F.A.), (2) substantial professional experience and (3) noted accomplishments as a producer.
     The Department of Communication, which is preparing to seek ACEJMC accreditation, is a professionally oriented program offering majors in journalism, broadcasting, public communication (public relations and advertising), and communication studies, plus minors in speech and writing, all with an emphasis on media criticism, writing and ethics.  The department has over 530 majors and a full-time faculty of 15. Buffalo State is the largest four-year comprehensive college in the SUNY system. Western New York and neighboring Southern Ontario offer dynamic media and cultural opportunities as well as excellent four season recreational activities and quality affordable housing.

Sakson and Taylor. Most media jobs in the Seattle area seem to be promoted through Sakson and Taylor a Seattle based employment service that specializes in technical communication. The organization fills positions in animation, graphics, media, instructional design, writing and other areas. This seems to be a central connection to the media production opportunities in the Seattle area.
