Web-based training has certainly become a part of life for people of all ages - from elementary to college students, sales people, technicians, doctors, and even homeowners trying to deal with a leaky pipe.
Come join your fellow Internet professionals to learn the nuts and bolts of WBT. We'll start with an overview of web-based training (also known as eLearning) with a few good and bad examples. From there, we'll look at the two areas that are somewhat unique to this specialty. Instructional design assures that the course you build meets the educational goals of the project. Programming and engineering strive to maximize the functionality while helping the organization track the students' use and successful completion of the courses within a curriculum.

September Meeting: The Macromedia Central Opportunity
Date: Wed, Sep 15, 2004
Speaker: Phillip Kerman
The developer version of Macromedia Central, despite being out for over a year, has stayed below the public radar so far. However, this platform continues to evolve as Macromedia's desktop presence solution. Users can easily find, install--and optionally purchase--applications that aggregate timely data into a meaningful presentation. Using Central is like browsing the Internet but only finding the information you want. Also, the special offline features mean occasionally connected users (such as travelers and modem users) can still use the applications.
As a special preview of what is coming in the coming weeks, we have permission to show the new features including access to AOL's AIM and ICQ instant messaging networks; support for ActionScript 2.0 and Flash 7 features (such as mouse wheel and right click support); user authorized system file access to read/write and upload/download files; and one click publishing to make deployment easier.
