CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
THE 11TH ANNUAL WOMEN OF COLOR FILM FESTIVAL

In its eleventh year, the Women of Color Film Festival aims to provide a progressive showcase of films created by an underrepresented sector of the film industry. Each film entry must have a woman of color in at least one key creative role, e.g. director/producer, screenwriter.  The festival will take place in March of 2006 at the Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley, CA and at Cinematheque in San Francisco, CA. For the first time last May we also collaborated with a non-profit Canadian film festival in Toronto to produce a curated program of shorts at Alucine, celebrating Latina and border breaking films. 
   Past festivals have proudly featured Shirin Neshat's video installation Fervor, Etang Inyang's Badass Supermama, Grounds by Dolissa Medina, Jennifer Thuy Lan Phang's Love Ltd., She Wants to Talk to You by Anita Wen-Shin Chang, Hair Stories by Yvette Smalls, Sabrina Dhawan's Saanjh-As Night Falls, Grace Lee's Barrier Device, Rosario Sotelo's Fabrication, Monique Walton & Andia Winslow's Still Black, At Yale, and Aradhana Seth's Dam/Age: A Film with Arundhati Roy.
  Submissions Criteria:  Films or videos may be of any length, genre and format, and must be less than 3 years old. Preview copy of submission must be in VHS format.  Please do not send originals.  We are not responsible for damage incurred during shipping.  Please include a self-addressed stamped envelope if you would like your submission returned.  Submissions will not be returned otherwise.  Notification of programming decisions will be made by late January through email.

  • Priority post-mark deadline: Friday October 7, NO ENTRY FEE
  • Final post-mark deadline: Friday November 4
  • Domestic Entry fee: $10 for the first entry postmarked after October 7, $5 each additional entry (no one turned away for lack of funds).  International entry fees are waived.

Slamdance Film Festival
Calling Anything That Moves
Short Films under 40 minutes: October 11, 2005
The 12th Annual Slamdance Film Festival, scheduled to take place, January 19 - 27, 2006 in Park City, Utah, officially launched its call for entries today. ³We are currently accepting short and feature film submissions in all genres for the 2006 edition of the festival,² Sarah Diamond, Director of Programming announced today. ³This is always an exciting time in the festival office, as we wait with anticipation to see what discoveries we will make what new talent we will be able to offer a helping hand to.² Slamdance will screen about 100 films in total.

All film selections will be posted on the 2006 festival page during the second week of December. : KnowFilmFast Horror Competition

Portland's micrcocinema "the Know" announces: All psycho killer filmmakers please report to the Know for the return of the KnowFilmFast Horror Competition. Yes, once again we will make horror films in 66 hours and 6 minutes.

The fun starts October 21st at 11pm.  Characters and Weapons to be chosen by bobbing for ping pong balls, or scooping for clues, or sailing to Pingpongia. However you choose to do it under the limited rules of the competition.  Tapes will be returned to Knowsylvania at 6:06 pm  Monday evening. OpenLens Festival - Eugene

The Downtown Initiative for the Visual Arts (DIVA) announces its second annual mid-Oregon film and video festival to be held the evening of December 9th. This annual event provides an opportunity for local film makers to showcase their work. Prizes include Best Juried film/video Award $250 and Audience Choice Award $100.
